Queer Fam Fund Application

Honcho Campout is an intimate, LGBTQ-led music festival dedicated to showcasing underground dance music and communing in nature with friends. Over the past six years, Campout has become one of the most anticipated events of the summer season for many in our community. Taking place over an extended August weekend at Four Quarters Interfaith Sanctuary in Artemas, PA (about two and a half hours from Pittsburgh), Campout celebrates self-expression and self-actualization as soundtracked by some of the most sought-after and slept-on queer DJs around the world. It’s a spiritual experience that literally takes place on protected ground—and it’s one hell of a party, too. Honcho Campout is a weekend of liberation and an intentional safe space that attendees joyously reminisce about for months or even years after.

The success of our festival compelled us to invest in new ways to ensure the event is as intersectional and diverse as the queer community at large. In 2018 the Queer Fam Fund (QFF), a fundraising and outreach program, was created to prioritize the marginalized and underrepresented, namely: Black people, people of color, and trans and non-binary people. This philanthropic effort, subsidized entirely by donations, extends a free Campout experience to members of these communities so that they may enjoy the festival free of financial strain. QFF alleviates the cost of the Four Quarters camping fee, the meal plan, camping gear, and even roundtrip travel. The ticket fee is also waived for recipients, which is Honcho's contribution to the fund. In its inaugural year, the goal was exceeded and every applicant, 22 in total, was invited to join the festivities. In 2019, thanks to the generosity of donors, we upped that number to 30!

The QFF continues this year to further make good on its original goal: to ensure that Campout meaningfully serves the diversified queer community. Our 2021 goal is 65 recipients and we’re confident we’ll be successful! We are proud to be able to open doors and create opportunities for others, especially after a year of such hardship and financial strain, and we are excited to expand on what we’ve established.

You must complete an application if you are interested in attending Campout via the QFF. The identity of those who are selected will be kept confidential. All entries must be submitted by May 31, 2021 and if you are selected you will be notified mid June. If you are a previous recipient, you are more than welcome to apply again. Also: we can only accept people located in the United States this year. To our international friends: we will open QFF up to you again in 2022, we promise.

Only one entry per person please!
